You have to take advantage of good weather

The weather was nice Thursday evening, so we got on the ferry (about a 3 minute walk from our apartment) in the Danes (don-ess) River and headed across the Curonian Lagoon to Smiltyne (smil-tee-nay) on the Curonian Spit.

Klaipeda is a pretty significant port. That is an international ferry heading off to Germany (most likely). And that is some of the cargo offloading cranes. Klaipeda and Kaliningrad have apparently established some sort of arrangement to coordinate the rail shipping of the cargo from both ports.

Across the Curonian Spit, to the Baltic Sea.
