Nida, as close to Kaliningrad as we got

That green spit on the horizon is in the Russian Federation, Kaliningrad Oblast.

This is on a large sand dune just south of Nida, a little resort town, the last Lithuanian town before the frontier.

It turns out that the visa situation for Russia is difficult. Roughly $150 a person, and you have to get an "invitation" to come. It didn't seem worth it to us.

I don't even know what this activity is called--a cross between surfing and para-sailing. Para-surfing?

A well-tended graveyard, with Lithuanian Catholic and Russian Orthodox graves, with some old wooden grave markers, too.

This is a Russian Orthodox grave.

The traditional wooden markers.

Ron B., the symbol at the top is the equivalent of Rest in Peace.
